Imagine the aroma of sweet, bubbling fruit mingling with a golden, buttery crumble topping straight out of the oven – that's the essence of a perfect cobbler crumble. This irresistible dessert harmoniously blends the juicy essence of seasonal fruits with a crispy, textured topping that promises to satisfy every sweet tooth.
Ingredients
-
2 cups AP flour
-
½ cup granulated sugar
-
½ light brown sugar
-
2 tsp baking powder
-
1 tsbp cinnamon sugar
-
1 stick unsalted butter, cold
-
¼ cup boiling hot water (see notes)
-
½ tsp salt
-
3 tbsp granulated sugar, to dust over cobbler droppings
Directions
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
In a medium bowl, combine flour, both sugars, ½ tbsp cinnamon sugar, baking powder and salt.
Use a pastry cutter or hands to work cold butter into mixture, breaking it up until it looks coarse like crumbles.
Add the hot water and stir with spoon until combined. Cobbler mix should have a biscuit mix-like texture.
On a parchment lined cookie sheet, place tbsp sized cobbler droppings two inches apart. Each dropping should at least be the size of a golf ball.
Sprinkle over the 3 tbsp granulated sugar and place in oven for at least 25-29 minutes.
Remove from oven and let cool for 10 minutes before handling.
Recipe Note
*Add more hot water to the cobbler if needed to achieve a doughy "drop biscuit" like texture. Add 1 tbsp at a time (no more than 1/2 cup of water total)
